About CNRS-Japon

CNRS has a bureau in Japan since 1991. Its name is "CNRS-Japon".

The goal of CNRS-Japon is to help strengthen scientific cooperations between France and Japan.

Note that CNRS has other offices in USA and for the European Union as well as representatives in some other countries. You may look at the full list (in french) of CNRS representations abroad.

One example of CNRS-Japon output is the help it provided to the Engineering Sciences Department of CNRS to create a research lab in Japan in 1994. This lab is named "Laboratory for Integrated MicroMechatronic Systems (LIMMS)". It is located within the Institute of Industrial Sciences (IIS) of University of Tokyo. Since 1995, this lab is conducting cooperative research projects in micromechatronics with other labs of IIS.
